Journalists are under fire around the world. The latest podcast from the Association of Foreign Press Correspondents in the USA (AFPC/USA) hones in on the critical work we do to promote press freedom and help defend journalists.

We raised our voice with other press freedom groups and were extraordinarily grateful for the recent release from Russian jails of falsely accused Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty editor Alsu Kurmasheva, as well as others wrongfully detained there and around the world, in this month's successful prisoner swap.
We continue to call for the U.S. to act more strongly to help stop the killing of journalists in Gaza—well over 110 have died, and some figures put the number as high as 165 since Oct. 7.
This year we also highlighted the work of exiled journalists, a growing category of reporters forced to live far from their homes because they risk arrest or worse if they did their reporting and stories in their native countries.
